The mission of the department is to improve the health of individuals and families in partnership with the communities we serve by translating advances in medicine to excellent, accessible and holistic care. We aim to enhance the quality of life for underserved and vulnerable patients. The staff and physicians in the Adult Medicine Department specialize in the care of adult patients with various symptoms and medical issues. They provide routine check-ups, physical exams, adult immunizations, medical clearances, and health screenings.
Boriken Neighborhood Health Center’s physicians provide:
- Preventive screening services for health maintenance, for example Pap smears, cholesterol screening, and blood pressure screening
- Collaborative care of patients with chronic medical illnesses, including high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and emphysema, throughout the various stages of their illness
- Comprehensive management of medical needs for hospitalized patients
- Preoperative evaluation of medical risks prior to surgery
