Arturo Perez, assumed the position of CEO in February of 2019, after serving as CFO of the East Harlem Council for Human Services, Inc. since 2003. Mr. Perez is a graduate of Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania and has a Master of Arts from Boston. As the CEO of East Harlem Council for Human Services, Inc., Mr. Perez oversees the largest multi-service health and human service nonprofit in East Harlem with several programs and sites, including the Boriken Neighborhood Health Center, Boriken School Health Program, WIC Program, bilingual Head Start Program, and Senior Nutrition Program. Mr. Perez currently resides in East Harlem and is bilingual in English/Spanish.
Dr. Adam Aponte
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Adam Aponte is the Chief Medical Officer at Boriken Neighborhood Health Center in East Harlem, NY. Aponte himself was born and raised in East Harlem, NY where he received his B.A from City College of NY and continued at Mount Sinai SOM for his medical degree and residency training in pediatrics. He has dedicated his life work to providing care and shining a light on the health disparities within minority and underserved communities. Through-out his career, Dr. Aponte has been recognized for his tireless efforts and achievements by Crain’s New York “40 under 40” as a rising start in 2009, inducted into the Hispanic Scholarship Fund Alumni Hall of Fame, and recognized by the National Hispanic Health Foundation for his contributions to Latinx in medicine and many more. His passion for giving back and service to his community is endless. Dr. Aponte currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with his wife and two children.
HIV Services Coordinator
Paul Bolter is the HIV Services Coordinator at the Boriken Neighborhood Health Center. For Over 20 years, Bolter has dedicated his career to assisting, educating, and advocating for communities within the HIV/AIDS/HCV field. As an advocate for this community and expert, Bolter stays up-to-date on education and best practices to ensure a safe space for a diverse and marginalized community. Prior to working at Boriken, Bolter lead the Patient Navigator Network for the New York Hepatitis C Task Force. In recognition of his commitment, Bolter received The Commissioner Special Recognition Award from the New York State (NYS) Department of Health AIDS Institute. Mr. Bolter currently resides in Queens, NY.
Ann Marie Vazquez
Marketing Outreach Coordinator
Ann Marie Vazquez is the Marketing Outreach Coordinator at Boriken Neighborhood Health Center. She previously served as the Care Manager at Boriken for six years before assuming the role of Marketing Outreach coordinator. Vazquez has a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Psychology from Brooklyn College and a Master’s Degree in Elementary and Secondary School Counseling. She also serves as the President of the Tenant Association at AK Houses and is a board member of The Puerto Rican Family Institute.
Vazquez works with all the departments at Boriken to market their services and provides outreach to the community to inform them of all the services Boriken has to offer their patients.
