The Women Infants and Children (WIC) is a nutrition education program that provides supplemental foods to promote good health for Pregnant women, breastfeeding women whose babies are less than one year old, postpartum non-breastfeeding women (up to 6 months after delivery), infants and children under the age of five may be eligible for WIC if they meet the WIC Income Guidelines and have a health risk factor. 

Eligibility guidelines do not disqualify families based on employment, immigration or marital status, and students, multi- and extended family households are eligible. WIC is a federal program supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered in New York State by the Department of Health. 


The East Harlem Council for Human Services, Inc.'s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program is located on the third floor of the Boriken Neighborhood Health Center and provides nutritional services to 1,300 enrollees each year. The WIC Program has served the families of East Harlem and nearby communities since 1978. 

Our WIC Services Include:

· Nutrition services and counseling focused on your needs and concerns

· Health Bucks, which can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables 
  at all NYC farmers markets!

· Breastfeeding promotion and support

· Individualized food packages

· Healthy lifestyle promotion

· Referrals to other health and social services

WIC Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm 
1st and 3rd Wednesday of the Month: Open Until 6pm
