The mission of the department is to improve the health of individuals and families in partnership with the communities we serve by translating advances in medicine into excellent, accessible and holistic care. We aim to enhance the quality of life for underserved and vulnerable patients. The staff and physicians in the Adult Medicine Department specialize in the care of adult patients with various symptoms and medical issues. They provide routine check-ups, physical exams, adult immunizations, medical clearances, specialty referrals, health screenings and more.

At Boriken Neighborhood Health Center, we provide behavioral health services and case management to children, adolescents, adults and seniors. Our staff works with our medical providers to ensure comprehensive, integrated, and collaborative medical and mental health care.
Our behavioral health services work to provide patients with access to mental health services and support when they need it. We employ an integrative approach to behavioral which means our primary care providers work very closely with our Behavioral Health providers. Addressing mental health issues is when they arise it critical to ensure good overall health. We work to eliminate any stigma associated with seeking these services, recognizing that any individual at any time may need mental health services. We also provide services to individuals who have more chronic mental health needs. We have a team of Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Master Social Worker, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Care Managers and Health Navigator. These professionals are available to provide mental health services to primary care patients and community residents experiencing symptoms of stress, depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, psychosis, traumatic events and other forms of emotional distress and psychiatric symptoms that are impacting day-to-day functioning.
We provide care coordination and care management to patients of all ages as well as referrals to our community partners for specialized mental health and substance abuse treatment.

Cardiology is the medical specialty dedicated to diagnosing, treating, and preventing disease of the heart and blood vessels. At Boriken Neighborhood Health Center, we provide comprehensive health assessments that evaluate, treat, and reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke.
We offer consultative and diagnostic services that identify the causes of heart-related chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, fainting, and leg swelling. Our cardiologist treats heart conditions, such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, high blood pressure, and diseases of blood vessels, including stroke and peripheral vascular disease. We also provide preventive and risk management services that assess your risk of heart disease and control conditions that increase heart disease risks such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

HIV/AIDS Services
Our commitment to our patients remains firm — creating a safe space with access to care, providing HIV and AIDS prevention and education, connecting you to a range of support services needed, and ensuring all individuals living with HIV live a healthy and productive life.
Testing
You can help stop HIV and protect your health. If you are between the ages of 13-64, it is recommended that you get tested for HIV. It’s better to know! Testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HepC is also available.
PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)
You can take a medicine to prevent getting HIV from sex or injection drug use. We can help you learn more and help you get access to the treatment if you decide this is right for you.
PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis)
PEP is a short course of antiretroviral medications taken after possible exposure to HIV to prevent infection. It is most effective when started within 72 hours of exposure.
Support Services
We offer counseling to help guide you through your HIV testing and AIDS treatment plan. We can also connect you to a range of support services should you need them.

The Center provides primary and specialty care for newborns, children, adolescents, and young adults. Our pediatricians see children of all ages for routine check-ups, as well as for acute illnesses and injuries.

We give age-appropriate anticipatory guidance to help your children develop to their fullest potential.
